Every once in a while, I stumble on a new idea. My wife will tell you that it is way more than that, she’d probably say twice a week. This post is about one of those ideas. I saw a husband and wife team put together a pretty amazing clothing product and brand. I was so inspired and wanted to come up with something of my own.
As I racked my brain for something cool I stumbled on the idea of varsity jackets. For a long time, I’ve wanted to go picking at flea markets for vintage letterman letters to sew on adult sweatshirts. Those letters are either far too expensive or very scarce. So the idea has never gone anywhere.
But that concept is what inspired this project. What if there was a way to do that for kids with new mini letters? I did a lot of research and some prototyping and developed what you see in the picture above.
This is still very much in the exploratory phase. Right now I am gauging interest. There is no brand name or inventory yet but I am moving toward figuring all of that out.
How you can help
Right now I am curious if this is even something that others would like for their kids. So here are 3 ways you can contribute:
- Comment on the post with thoughts or suggestions
- Fill out the form embedded at the bottom of this post
- Share this with your friends
This is all quite exciting for me but that is the entrepreneurial spirit of my brain taking this to a level it may never get to. I appreciate you reading and entertaining my crazy ideas. If this does end up becoming a reality
Update
I appreciate all the feedback than many gave through the form that used to be on this page. I thought we had tested the limits of the clothing pretty well but after I posted this article we did some more testing. It looks like the letters don’t hold up in the wash the way we originally thought they would. This obviously put a halt to the project but we may rebound and try to figure out a better way in the future.

May 11, 2016J’s get me no matter what or where! 😉 ha
Listen to the entrepreneurial spirit of your brain! Love it!
Big fan of navy personally; but, I would think grey would be the safe starting place.

June 26, 2016I love the idea of a first letter, but as you will see from my form submission, my gut would be to do last initial so my kids could pass it down. It is unlikely I would buy them for everyone.
